Denise manages Community and Government Relations in NC for Vulcan Materials Company, the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates—primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel—and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials, including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete. Vulcan’s coast-to-coast footprint and strategic distribution network align with and serve the nation’s growth centers.
Denise joined Vulcan in 1993 and worked in a sales capacity that transformed into her current role. She supports Vulcan’s 22 operations in North Carolina and assists their local teams with developing a community relations program that addresses earth science education, environmental stewardship, and employee engagement.
In addition, she manages Vulcan’s Government Affairs program at the local, state, and federal level to create awareness of the importance of the aggregate industry in the community as well as advocating for adequate and sustainable transportation funding as a key driver for North Carolina’s economy.
Denise has held leadership or board positions with the Charlotte, Mint Hill, and Cabarrus Chambers of Commerce, the Sterling Math & Science Foundation, Rowan County United Way, NC State IES, and Charlotte Rotary. She currently serves on the Rowan Cabarrus Community College Foundation and Sterling Math & Science Boards of Directors. She also serves as Chair for the Rowan County Economic Development Commission and is the Government Affairs Chair of the NC Aggregates Association.
Denise enjoys spending time with family and friends playing golf, attending performing arts events, cooking, and traveling. She especially loves her beloved Wolfpack! Her personal service includes serving on the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Pastoral Council as Chair of the Communications Commission, Adult Education and Music Ministries.
Denise is blessed to be married to Michael for 30 years and has 2 wonderful children (Andy, 28 and Sarah, 22). Denise & Michael live in Salisbury, NC, her hometown. She graduated from NC State University with a BS in Civil Engineering and was previously employed by the Institute for Transportation Research and Education, and Koch Materials Company.
